Bully Bush Blames Iraqi China Shop- Newsweek

Sun Dec 03, 2006 at 04:33:10 AM PDT

The latest  Newsweek dated for Dec 11 2006,   informative and revealing, brings up the obvious Commission report inspired preemptive strike  of bush's latest charades at diplomacy.
It gives a clarifying view of Baker's role with Bush 41 and Bush 43 as the neo-con to the rescue.  And it rips into Bush's position as a Bull in the China Shop blaming the China Shop for breaking!
Is there any doubt?

Washington's tendency to blame the Iraqi government for the current disaster is misplaced, Cordesman says. "The idea that when you send the bull in to liberate a china shop, you blame the china shop for breaking the china is, shall we say, somewhat ingenuous and probably misleading."

Statements and statistics from Anthony Cordesman, widely respected analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington,  bring into focus the tragedy that Bush's denial has wrought in Iraq:

The administration's devout wish and goal is to stand down its forces as Iraq stands up its own. Indeed, last week, Prime Minister Maliki asserted that Iraq would be able to take over its own security in six months. Cordesman's statistics make a mockery of that promise. By his count, maybe one in four of Iraq's Army battalions are able to "perform a useful function." Cordesman pointed out that the latest Defense Department report says there is no way to count the number of men in the Iraqi police force, and there is no system for rating the effectiveness of police units. But the daily carnage suggests that the police are overwhelmed—if they're not actually in on the killing of civilians.

Harsh and daring words in the article refer to Maliki in cold war lingo as "our son of a bitch" in Iraq.  Do we expect them to ride their "bicycle" of democracy with out American training wheels, and take ownership the China Shop we have left them?  Gen. Peter Chiarelli, who was in charge of day-to-day ground operations, remembers being asked:

"Do you have enough forces? Enough to clear an area and stay there to secure it 24/7?" Chiarelli replied, "Of course not." The four-star recalls replying, "It's going to fail, it's absolutely going to fail." The Americans never had enough forces to sweep even half the city, much less secure it."

With parallels to Vietnam, even in Rumsfeld's office and personal statements, as Bush's quagmire festers,  and public and Pentagon fatigue sets in, I still get the sense that Bush will "stick to his guns"  in his lone cowboy way, even if he is  the last neo-con left standing.  In his mind, I'm sure he's the Lone Ranger and Maliki is his new Tonto.
Hi! Ho! Silver, away!!

would be amusing if not so tragic for the millions affected. http://www.washingtonpost.com/... In a memo dated Nov 6th 2006 Rumsfeld  states that things in Iraq aren't going well. Gee, Don do you think so. It only took him till Novemeber to realize it? How did this group of clowns get to be in charge? They couldn't handle the lunch rush at a fast food restaraunt

Perhaps we could issue the Iraqis tanks, helicopters, gun ships, bunker buster and cluster bombs and armored vehicles, just like the democracy spreading American troops have. Give each Iraqi soldier six grenades, mortar rounds and a bazooka and you solve all problems.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto are riding through one of the many canyons when suddenly rising from the hill on their right are hundreds of indians. They start to spur their horse forward when they realised that there are hundreds of indians ahead of them.  Wheeling to the left they, once again, see hundreds of indians rising from the hill.  They begin to back away in the direction from which they had come and they realise, they were surrounded.  The indians had spread out.  They were trapped.

The Lone Ranger turns to Tonto, his life long friend, and says "Tonto, my firend, I think I must say that I have treasured our times together but now I think we are doomed".

" We?" replied Tonto "What's all this we, Paleface?"
