Hillary, Back to the Future!

Mon Jan 22, 2007 at 10:44:40 AM PDT

For my dog, Wally, the social roles of males and females is pretty much set in stone. For us, however, the social roles of men and women are a little more evolved and complex. Today, I feel as if I am part of history in the making because I just signed up on the the Hillary for President website!
As I typed in my information, I reflected on how the fairness of our democratic process of government, with its checks and balances based loosely on the Native American Iroquois Confederation of inter-tribal treaties, has succeeded so well as to finally present us with Hillary Rodham Clinton, as potentially the first female President of the United States! Wow!
More below...

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Hillary. A candidate who can be said to have already "interned" for the job of president while her husband served in that role himself. No more perfect candidate for President of the United States exists, than Hillary Clinton!

Her poise and demeanor have always seemed to me to be regal, composed, and coming from a place of true integrity. I have always found her words to be thoughtful, insightful, and never pretentious.
While all the Native tribal chiefs may have been men, they were appointed by mothers and councils of grand mothers. This is one area of native custom that I always felt should have been included in our government. Seeing Nancy Pelosi rise to the position of Speaker of the House, brought tears to my eyes. For the simple reason that a mother, or more specifically, a grandmother, is more likely to make decisions on what is best for the children, and not for one’s pride, or profit, or for the legacy of a government office.
In Hillary, I see a woman who was brave enough to set out, against all adversity, and try to bring health care to the children, the poorest of Americans because... it simply needed to be done! It still does. And I trust she will not forget them.
America has never been more ready for a woman president. And never has a woman been more prepared to be president, than Hillary Clinton. Come November, 2008, I know who I will be voting for, and I hope that you will join me. Vote for Hillary... for America, for our grandparents, and for our children, unto the seventh generation!

  •  We're certainly pass due for a female (0+ / 0-)

president, but I don't know about this:

While all the Native tribal chiefs may have been men, they were appointed by mothers and councils of grand mothers. This is one area of native custom that I always felt should have been included in our government.

    LOL.

You don't honestly want our "chiefs" to be appointed by councils of grandmothers do you????

but then after thinking about it... hell yes!  I think mothers and grandmothers would have the wisdom and insight to weigh and balance a candidate's emotional and mental maturity with real courage and not be as easily deceived by "cowboy" boy-who-cries-wolf bravado.  Don't you?

And if there's no ojbections, I'll let this comment be my TIP JAR. Thanks.

  •  Yeah! More of the (3+ / 0-)

"Let's vote for Hillary because she has a vagina" logic.

    Great thinking!

Blood on her hands from Iraq?  Who cares?!?!

Her DLC message underminds the Democratic Party?  Who cares?!?!

She is divisive and unelectable?  Who cares?!?!

She continues the recent tradition of political dynasties?  Who cares?!?!

None of this matters!  She has a vagina!

    •  Like it or not (0+ / 0-)

she represents 50% of the population that has NEVER been represented in office of president.  How much of the  latino vote did Bush smooze to win?
Hillary has an advantage from the start in wooing women voters.  I think she can and will win!

      •  electability is irrelevant for a change (0+ / 0-)

Short of the GOP getting an outside-the-beltway moderate for their nominee who can run without George Bush's dead, stinking political corpse around his (any doubts about that) neck, ANY Democrat can win.

We could probably run Marilyn Manson or even Charles Manson and get into the White House.

However, I think we'd do better with "generic Democrat" than Marilyn Manson, Charlie Manson, or Hillary Clinton. If she can't unite the netroots, how the hell can she be expected to get a majority in the nation as a whole?

You would do better with us if you provided verifiable content demonstrating that a former member of Walmart's Board of Directors and member of the DLC would have the slightest interest in pursuing a progressive agenda once elected as President.

I want to know which candidate is going to be best for America if elected, and I want something more substantial than 'she's wonderful' to base decisions on.

  •  As a woman (3+ / 0-)

I'm most definitely ready for the first woman president. Just not Hillary. Every instinct in me screams NO! I don't know why the instinctive response, but I'm going with it. Maybe it was that picture of her on was Time a few years ago...but no.

  •  question? (3+ / 0-)

How can dems possably lose the general election to a party with an incumbant president at 30%....Answer, nominate the most polorizing figure in politics today not currently in the white house, and ad to that procvide the GOP nominee the oppurtunity to say I will change course from the BUSH/CLINTON political era, can dems be this stupid.

After Obama's eighth straight victory, Penn told reporters: "Winning Democratic primaries is not a qualification or a sign of who can win the general election.

    •  Universal health care is (0+ / 0-)

way past due.   Without the republicans in control to stop it or try and  create another "monstrous beast" out of it, Hillary is the prime candidate to make it happen.  So yea... I think she deserves the chance to make real universal health care  a reality.

that she'd try to introduce another such package if elected?

It is also possible to create "universal health plans" which are worse than the situation we've got, good examples are Governor Schwartenegger's plan and Milt Romney's plan for making everyone buy for-profit medical insurance. One of her major sources for campaign money is the insurance industry.
