Bad ammo: way to fight the war on terror...

Just a brief diary on an article on the front page of today's New York Times that managed to spike above my already-high outrage threshold and in fact left me sputtering about this at my bewildered girlfriend for five minutes in a Keith Olbermann-esque rant.
Hopefully, you'll be less bewildered--more below the break...
DNC, you want money? I assume you're joking...

Have you ever received mailings from Democratic organizations like the DNC or the DCCC or DSCC asking you for money? Suuuuuure you have...and so have I, and I'm not even a registered Democrat!
I've had a little time off from non-stop work recently and have been cleaning up my desk of various flotsam and jetsam. In doing so, I uncovered three letters from the above-mentioned organizations, all containing breathless prose such as:

Long-time reader, shorter-time commenter, first-time diarist, so I'll try to keep this short and to the point. I live in Colorado and my two senators are Wayne Allard (R) and Ken Salazar (D). Yesterday, I decided to do what little I could do as an ordinary citizen re the travesty taking place in the Senate and call my senators. Anybody who knows anything about Allard knows that he is (to put it charitably...) a waste of oxygen, so that left me with Salazar. I called his Washington office at (202) 224-5852 before 3pm and talked with a female staffer there. I indicated immediately that I was a Colorado resident and then asked what the senator's intentions were on the McCain torture bill. To the best of my recollection, I was told unequivocally that the senator would vote against the bill.
